Vaccinations

It is unclear whether vaccination against influenza (flu) should generally be recommended for asthmatics. There is insufficient scientific evidence. Nevertheless, the experts generally agree that the annual flu vaccination is recommended.
It is also unclear whether vaccination against pneumococci (pneumonia) should generally be recommended for asthmatics. Again, there is no scientific evidence of a benefit. The World Asthma Society (GINA) does not recommend vaccination, but the German STIKO (Standing Vaccination Commission of the Federal Republic of Germany) does.
